"Water Lily Fairy" Digital Painting

It has been a long time since I have posted on this blog!  I have been painting digitally almost exclusively for the past while. Digital painting is a newer art form in which traditional painting methods are applied by using a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. I use a Wacom tablet, Clip Studio Paint  and Adobe Photoshop.  I also use my iPad and the Procreate app. Many techniques are possible; watercolour, airbrush, oils, ink and more.

Digital painting is a type of digital art but it is not computer-generated art. The artist uses painting techniques to create the image directly on the computer.

Digital painting is also different from digital manipulation of photographs.  My digital paintings begin with a blank canvas and I do the same steps I would do in traditional art.  Some digital artists do use photographic elements in their work, but so far I have not.  I do use reference photos the same way I do in traditional art.

The original artwork is a digital file that is used to make prints, cards, and magnets which are for sale in the Beaverlodge Cultural Centre Gift Shop.
